AI Gaussian splat generator
Classic Gaussian splatting needs dozens of photos or a video of a real object, then a training run on a GPU. Generato skips the capture: describe an object or give it one picture, and TripoSplat generates a complete 3D Gaussian splat in about a minute, ready to download as a PLY file.

Generated splats vs captured splats
Captured splat
You film or photograph a real object from every side, then train a splat from those images. It takes the physical object, careful capture and minutes to hours of processing — and gives a faithful copy of the real thing.
Generated splat (Generato)
You type a prompt or upload one image. The AI model builds the splat directly in about a minute. The sides your input does not show are filled in by the model, so the result is a convincing 3D object rather than a measured scan.
Use a capture tool when you need a digital twin of something you own. Use a generator when you need a 3D asset quickly, from an idea or from a picture you already have.
How Generato makes a splat
- Start from text or an image. A prompt is first rendered as a clean reference picture by the FLUX image model (see text to 3D). A photo is used as it is (see image to 3D).
- TripoSplat builds the 3D Gaussians. Tripo's TripoSplat model turns the main subject of the picture into 262,144 coloured 3D Gaussians — soft, semi-transparent ellipsoids that together look photoreal from any angle.
- The splat lands in your library. Spin it in the browser viewer, download it as a PLY file, look at it over your phone camera, or place it in your room on Meta Quest.
Where to use your Gaussian splat
- Splat editors such as SuperSplat, to crop stray points, adjust the result or re-export it in a smaller compressed format.
- Web 3D engines — Three.js, PlayCanvas and Babylon.js all have Gaussian splat renderers. See AI 3D models for WebXR and Three.js for a code example.
- Game engines — Unity and Unreal, through a Gaussian splatting plugin.
- AR and VR — straight from Generato, with no export at all.
Frequently asked questions
What is an AI Gaussian splat generator?
It is a tool that creates a 3D Gaussian splat (3DGS) with a generative AI model instead of training one from many photos. Generato generates a splat from a text prompt or a single image in about a minute.
What file format do I get?
A PLY file in the usual 3D Gaussian splatting layout, with a position, colour, opacity, scale and rotation for every Gaussian. It loads in common splat viewers, editors and renderers.
Can I generate a splat of a whole room or scene?
Not well. Generato is built for single objects and keeps only the main subject of the picture. For rooms, buildings and landscapes, a capture-based splatting tool is the better choice.
Can I turn the splat into a mesh?
Generato only outputs Gaussian splats, not polygon meshes. Some third-party tools try to extract a mesh from a splat, but the quality varies, so a splat is not the right starting point if you need a GLB or OBJ for 3D printing or a game rig.
How many Gaussians does a model have?
Each model is generated with 262,144 Gaussians, enough for fine detail while still rendering smoothly in a browser, on a phone and on Meta Quest.
Is it free?
New accounts get 5 free credits, and each credit generates one splat. More credits are sold as one-time packs that never expire — there is no subscription.
